Trips to the veterinarian are a routine part of Shelter operations. Several times a week, cats and dogs are taken the our veterinarian in Eckert. Primarily, these are well cats and dogs who need to be spayed or neutered. For these trips, the cat or dog is picked up at the Shelter at 8 am, driven to the animal clinic, then picked up about 4:30 pm and returned to the Shelter.
Occasionally, surgery is needed, such as Bronco’s leg amputation following a bullet wound.
Other visits for non-surgical, medical care are by appointment.
To volunteer to transport animals to the veterinarian, you need to be comfortable with transporting cats in carriers and/or have the means to transport dogs in your vehicle.
ps…..Bronco has been adopted and is doing great with his new family.
